Late Summer Blowout at Big Cedar September 2023
Johnny Morris, Bass Pro Shops’ founder and the visionary behind Big Cedar, invited us back again for another Ready-Made Golf Trip in September of 2023. We first met Johnny on our 2021 trip after our TripCaddie founder Jon Morse made his first career hole-in-one on the 13th hole at Mountain Top – and Johnny was there to celebrate with us. After that meeting, a return trip was booked in short order!
This time we brought 8 different groups to fill out our 40-person roster for the trip. We played Payne’s Valley right off the bat on Thursday afternoon. That’s Tiger Woods’ first public golf course design and it is literally situated in a valley below the Mountain Top clubhouse. It’s a majestic round capped by the par 3 19th hole “bet settler.”
We settled into our rooms at Angler’s Lodge before gathering to watch the NFL kickoff its season at Tall Tales Bar & Grill right next door.
We played Buffalo Ridge on Friday followed by an afternoon round at Mountain Top, the 13 hole par 3 course carved out of the rocky mountain scape by Gary Player. We ate like kings at Osage Restaurant – Top of the Rock, with sunset views of Table Rock Lake and the Ozark Mountains.
Saturday, we tackled Ozarks National with a round in the morning followed by lunch and then a second round where we finished up in the sunset after playing an 8-man knockout game on the back 9. We finished out our trip with another round at Mountain Top on Sunday morning before heading home.
It was another fabulous trip, carefully curated by us to ensure that all of the groups could just show up and enjoy their golf trip with their buddies. And thanks to the glowing feedback from our golf trippers, we are already planning a return trip in 2024! Look for more details soon.
